Napoli are eyeing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur target and FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez as a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, who has been linked with Liverpool.

The Italians are expecting the Argentine striker to leave the club at the end of the season and it has been speculated that Atletico Madrid are interested in taking him back to Spain, while his brother had to recently go public to deny a deal has been done with Liverpool.

Therefore, Napoli are actively scouring the market to find a suitable replacement for the 27-year-old forward and have zeroed in on Martinez.

The 28-year-old Colombian has been in prolific form for Porto this season and has already scored 21 goals in all competitions.

It has been speculated that Martinez is interested in moving to the Premier League, with Tottenham and Liverpool interested in him, but according to Il Messaggero, Napoli have also now entered the race for the forward.

Martinez has a release clause of €35m and Porto are expected to dig in their heels for their striker as long as someone doesn’t meet the quoted figure this summer.

Liverpool are said to have an interest in both Martinez and Higuain and with both of them seemingly available at the end of the season, it remains to be seen which striker Brendan Rodgers opts to make a move for when he gets the opportunity.
