New Zealand manager Anthony Hudson believes Winston Reid is sure to leave West Ham for a bigger club and says it is a matter of when and not if he turns out for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

Reid's contract at Upton Park expires this summer and he has resisted putting pen to paper on an extension amid talk of a move elsewhere in the summer.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are watching developments closely and have been tipped to move for the New Zealand international when his deal with the Hammers comes to an end.

Hudson, who manages Reid for the All Whites, is a firm fan of his talents and feels he is destined to play at the very highest level.

Asked by Inside Futbol whether Reid has what it takes to hold down a place at the likes of Arsenal or Manchester United, Hudson replied: "Yes, 100%.

"I have absolutely no doubt at all – and it's only a matter of when, not if."

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has already come clean on his view that Reid's head has been turned and a switch is on the cards for the centre-back.

"You hear rumours. But can we prove it?" he said last month.

"If you can prove that clubs have broken the rules, then they are in serious trouble aren't they? But you can't prove it these days. You hear rumours, this, that and the other.

"It might have nothing to do with the two clubs directly, it could be between two agents, so how can you relate that to the football clubs? You can't, so it can all get done that way."

Reid has so far won 18 caps at international level for New Zealand and will form a key part of Hudson's side as the manager looks to guide the All Whites to the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and then the 2018 World Cup.
