An Arsenal scout ran the rule over Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir’s performance against Bordeaux on Saturday as the Gunners look to step up on their interest in the Frenchman.

The French international has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for some time now and though he is not too keen to leave the club this summer, Arsenal are not ready to give up on their chase yet.

The 21-year-old, who was voted France’s Young Player of the Year last night, is set to sit down for talks with Lyon next month over a new contract which will turn him into one of the top earners at the Stade de Gerland.

Both the club and the player have been making all the right noises over the last months about extending their cooperation beyond this summer, however, the Gunners are still keen follow up on their interest.

According to Mercato 365, Brian McDermott, a member of Arsenal’s recruitment team and most recently manager of Leeds United, was present at the Stade de Gerland to watch Fekir in action against Bordeaux on Saturday.

And the 21-year-old didn’t disappoint the Arsenal scout. He scored his 13th league goal of the season to earn a point for the home side.

Arsenal are expected to keep tabs on his situation at Lyon but Italian giants Inter Milan are also keen to have their say in the saga if Fekir becomes available this summer.
