Inter will hold a meeting with Liverpool officials in the second half of June as talks continue over Mateo Kovacic.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is captivated by the Croatia international and believes his signing could go a long way towards filling the hole left by the departure of the legendary Steven Gerrard.

However, the Reds have so far been unwilling to meet Inter's valuation of the player, which has led to deadlock in the talks.

Liverpool have not given up though and according to Italian daily Tuttosport, further talks are planned for some time in the second half of this month.

Inter are keen to sell the young midfielder as they look to finance their own summer spending.

But the Nerazzurri are determined not to allow Kovacic to leave for a value below that they judge him to be worth.

Inter are still smarting from selling Philippe Coutinho to Liverpool in the 2013 winter transfer window and seeing the Brazilian flourish at Anfield.

Liverpool paid only £8m to sign Coutinho, Rodgers confirmed earlier this year.
