Chinese outfit Guangzhou Evergrande are close to agreeing a deal for Tottenham’s Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, according to ESPN Brasil.

The 26-year-old midfielder struggled to get minutes under Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs last season and has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Premier League new boys Watford are said to be keen to sign the Brazilian and have already contacted Spurs to request information on the player’s status.

However, it has been claimed that Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande are closing in on the signature of the Spurs midfielder.

According to ESPN Brasil, the Chinese outfit have agreed a €15m deal with Spurs for the midfielder and are expected to complete the formalities of the transfer soon.

Paulinho has also agreed personal terms with Guangzhou and is expected to be on his way to China this summer.

Former Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari took over the reins of the club earlier this month and the Spurs midfielder is said to be one of his primary targets.

Paulinho joined Spurs from Brazilian outfit Corinthians in 2013 and still has three years left on his contract with the club.
