Roma legend Francesco Totti is keen to see Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko arrive at the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

The Giallorossi have been actively trying to sign the Bosnia international, but have so far failed to reach an agreement over a fee with Manchester City.

While the Citizens’ asking price of €30m did catch them by surprise, Roma have reopened talks with the English giants and have made an improved offer of around €20m.

Dzeko has already reportedly agreed personal terms with the Giallorossi and is said to be keen to move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Totti, a Roma legend, is optimistic about signing the forward and has revealed that Miralem Pjanic, Dzeko’s international team-mate, has done a good job of selling Roma to the Manchester City man.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Totti said: “It was not for me to convince him because fortunately we already have Pjanic, who knows him well.

“He has raved about Roma [to Dzeko].”

Totti is keen for the club to complete Dzeko’s signing as he feels the Bosnian is a quality forward who will improve their goalscoring next season.

“I hope he is one of the new signings at Roma because he is a top player.

“He is quality in front of goal and could help us to do better next season.”

While the clubs are yet to agree a fee, Roma are optimistic that they will be able to close out a deal to sign Dzeko in the next few days.
