Sunderland are closing in on the signature of French international midfielder Yann M’Vila from Rubin Kazan.

His representatives are in advanced negotiations with the Wearside outfit and according to L’Equipe, the French midfielder is expected to complete his move to the Black Cats over the weekend.

M’Vila has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent seasons, Liverpool being regularly mooted as suitors, though he was advised against joining the Reds last year, and he is finally on his way to the English top tier with Dick Advocaat’s side.

The 25-year-old joined Rubin Kazan from Rennes in 2013 and also spent six months on loan at Inter last season before returning to Russia in January this year.

The midfielder is believed to be keen to move to England this summer and Sunderland have moved in quickly to put themselves in a strong position to sign him ahead of the new Premier League season.
