Tottenham Hotspur are close to reaching an agreement with former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato, who is expected to be a replacement for Marseille-linked Erik Lamela, it has been claimed by Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The Argentine winger has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the coming hours with France being touted as his most possible destination, where Marseille lie in wait.




According to French radio station RMC, the 23-year-old has also made it known that he would be open to a move to Marseille.

And the Lilywhites are looking at the Corinthians man, on loan at Sao Paulo as a replacement for Lamela.

It has been claimed that the north Londoners are close to reaching an agreement with the Brazilian side, with the striker expected to decide on the move in the coming hours.

The 25-year-old has time and again expressed his desire to move back to Europe, insisting that he would not object to joining his former side AC Milan's rival Inter.

The move to Tottenham could be an ideal opportunity for Pato to revive his career in Europe.

Pato, who joined the Rossoneri in 2007 managed a total of 150 appearances for the Italian giants, scoring 63 goals and even won a Scudetto with the club.
