Former Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn is keen to speak to Rotherham United about succeeding Steve Evans, according to the Press Association.

Evans left his post at Rotherham earlier today and Redfearn has instantly noted his departure as the position at the Championship club becomes available.

Redfearn was not offered the chance to continue as head coach at Leeds in the summer, despite winning plaudits for his work at Elland Road last term and steering the Whites away from the relegation zone in the Championship.

Now he is keen to bounce back into management and is eyeing the vacant job at Rotherham, while he has already been linked with taking over at Doncaster Rovers.

The Millers currently sit 20th in the Championship table having collected eight points from their opening nine games.

Rotherham beat Birmingham 2-0 away at the weekend and are next in action on Friday when they host Burnley.

If Redfearn did get the job at Rotherham he would take the Millers to face his old club Leeds at Elland Road on 21st November.
