Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that there are no problems between the club and Mats Hummels.

The Dortmund captain has received some heavy criticism over the last few days because of his recent performances and there has also been speculation that all is not well between coach Thomas Tuchel and the defender.

It was claimed earlier today that Hummels could be considering his future at the Westfalenstadion, with Manchester United mentioned as suitors, and is reportedly edging closer towards an exit from the club, possibly next summer.

Watzke admits that he is aware of the speculation, but assured the fans that the relationship between the club and the player is perfect and there is no reason to worry.

He did concede that it is not always easy to keep Hummels happy, but stressed that the defender has the club’s complete support.

The Dortmund CEO was quoted as saying by Der Westen: “I read today that there are problems in the relationship between Mats and us.

“This is not the case. He is sometimes difficult to take care of, but that is not always a disadvantage in terms of his quality.

“He has all the support from us.”

Manchester United were keen to snare the defender away from Dortmund in the summer, something Hummels dubbed an honour, and are expected to keep their eyes peeled on developments in Germany.
