Inter Milan have overtaken Chelsea in the chase for Ezequiel Lavezzi and have proposed the terms of a contract to the player’s representatives.

Chelsea seemed to have moved into pole position to take the Paris Saint-Germain winger to London when they met the player’s agents earlier this week to discuss a deal to sign the Argentine, but the Nerazzurri have come roaring back into the chase.

The Serie A giants have kept their eye on the 30-year-old since last summer and are plotting to take the former Napoli man back to Italy during the January transfer window.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, fresh contacts have been established between the player’s agents and the club officials over a move and the Nerazzurri have proposed a contract to Lavezzi.

It has been suggested that Inter are willing to offer a three-year deal to the Argentine international worth €3.5m per season and are hoping to convince PSG to allow the player to leave the club this month.

Lavezzi’s contract with the club expires at the end of the season and the Parisians want a transfer fee of around €4m, before they agree to sell the player during the January transfer window.

Inter are working hard to arrange the finances and get the deal over the line this month.
