Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev is close to joining Valencia on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Cheryshev since last summer, but it seems the Russian won’t be leaving Spain any time soon as he is on his way to the Mestalla.

According to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, Gary Neville’s Valencia are on the verge of agreeing a deal that would see Cheryshev move to the club on loan until the end of the season.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane gave his blessing to the winger for a move last night, and even Sevilla were reportedly interested in the player, but it has been suggested that Valencia are poised to beat off competition for Cheryshev’s signing.

The Russian has been nothing more than a fringe player at Real Madrid and in his close to decade-long career as a Los Blancos player, he has made just seven senior appearances for the club.
