Juventus are still hopeful of signing Manchester United linked midfielder Andre Gomes, despite Valencia slapping a hefty asking price on the Portuguese international.

The midfielder’s performances at the Mestalla this season have attracted the attention of some of the big names of European football, but Valencia are desperate to hold on to him.

The club are aware that some of the European big wigs are keen to snare him away from Valencia this summer, but the club are hopeful of scaring away his suitors with their big financial demands.

It has been suggested that Los Che have already rejected a package of around €50m from Juventus, but according to Italian daily Tuttosport, the Italian champions are not giving up on the chase.

Juventus realise that Gomes is one of the best in the world in his position and are ready to make a financial commitment to snare him away from Valencia in the summer.

However, Jorge Mendes remains unwilling to negotiate with Italian clubs and the interest from Manchester United and Chelsea is expected to further complicate things for Juventus.

But the Bianconeri are expected to continue to try to negotiate a deal for Gomes in the hope of finally agreeing terms with Valencia and the midfielder’s agent.

Gomes has joined the Portugal squad for training ahead of the European Championship in the summer and has left his future at the hands of Mendes for the moment, being unwilling to speak about a potential move to Old Trafford.
