Tottenham Hotspur linked Basel striker Breel Embolo is close to joining German outfit RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old forward has been in the eye of a transfer storm lately as a number of top European clubs are said to have noticed his performances for the Swiss giants this season.




Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Swiss international and even Everton and Liverpool are said to be in the conversation for the striker, but it seems Embolo is on his way to Germany.

RB Leipzig have won promotion to the Bundesliga this season and according to German daily Bild, the young forward’s representatives have decided that Embolo will join the German outfit this summer.
 


Even Borussia Monchengladbach were interested in the player, but it seems a decision has been made and the player’s entourage feel Leipzig will be able to provide regular first team football to him next season, which the other clubs cannot promise at the moment.

Leipzig, who will be the first club from erstwhile East Germany to compete in the Bundesliga since 2009 next season, have the financial muscle to beat off competition from other European outfits for Embolo.

The 19-year-old has scored 31 goals in 90 senior appearances for Basel and has a contract until 2019 with the Swiss giants.

Embolo has already earned nine international caps for Switzerland.
