Kalmar sporting director Thomas Andersson-Borstam claims he will be "very happy" if striker Marcus Antonsson, who is expected to join Leeds United next week, signs for a bigger club.

Antonsson has been on fire in the Swedish top flight this season and recently collected the Allsvenskan's Player of the Month award for May.

The league's top goalscorer at present, Antonsson has drawn links with Aston Villa, Cardiff City, Leeds United and Toulouse.

It appears Leeds have won the race, with talk the striker is set for a medical on Monday ahead of a £1.2m move to the Championship outfit.

For Andersson-Borstam, seeing a Kalmar player progress to play at a higher level would be a source of pleasure, but he stressed any move must be good for both the club and the player.

"It is clear that his performances have not gone unnoticed", the sporting director plainly told Fotbollskanalen.

"He is at the top of the top scorers and is perhaps the league's best player right now."

Asked how he would feel if Antonsson left Kalmar, Andersson-Borstam claimed the Swedish outfit would be happy, explaining: "We are very happy if a player is performing so well that he can go on to bigger clubs.

"But it must match from every perspective.

"It has to be right for both Antonsson and Kalmar FF."
