Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has identified Spain striker Alvaro Morata as his alternative to Jamie Vardy, but looks likely to have to battle London rivals Chelsea to get his man.

Morata is currently at Juventus, but Real Madrid have a buy-back clause which they are expected to activate this summer. And then Los Blancos, who are happy with their attacking resources, may look to sell the striker on for a profit.

The Spain international has been linked with a whole host of clubs, including Chelsea, where incoming manager Antonio Conte is a big fan.

And according to Sky Italia, there may be a derby between Chelsea and Arsenal for Morata.

Wenger, who is set to be turned down by Leicester City striker Vardy, has identified Morata as his alternative target and is set to steer the Gunners into the race.

That would mean Arsenal battling Chelsea to land Morata this summer.

The striker has done his reputation no harm at Euro 2016 so far and scored twice for Spain in a 3-0 win over Turkey in a Group D encounter on Friday.

Morata has been claimed to be looking for an annual salary of €7.5m at whichever club he joins.
