Chelsea have moved into pole position for Arsenal target Alvaro Morata, it has been claimed.

Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is desperate to add the Juventus striker to his squad ahead of the 2016/17 campaign and Chelsea are working hard to grant the Italian his wish.

Morata, who may be bought back by Real Madrid using their buy-back clause and then sold again by Los Blancos for a profit, has been linked with a whole host of clubs, including Arsenal, where Arsene Wenger is said to see him as an alternative to Jamie Vardy.

But according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, it is Chelsea who have moved into the lead by finding an agreement over Morata's contract, which will see the Spaniard earn €6.5m per year at Stamford Bridge.

They are also willing to pay Real Madrid €60m for Morata, after he is taken back to the Bernabeu.

The striker's future is only likely to be thrashed out following the tournament.
