Leeds United are confident of having finalised the signing of Liam Bridcutt from Sunderland before they face QPR in their first game of the new Championship season.

Bridcutt spent the majority of last season on loan at Leeds from Sunderland after falling out of favour at the Stadium of Light.

He has been keen to return on a permanent deal and following several weeks of talks between Leeds and Sunderland a deal is now close.

And according to Radio Yorkshire, Leeds are confident they will complete the signing of Bridcutt before they play QPR on Sunday at Loftus Road.

Bridcutt's contract for his return to Leeds is in the process of being finalised and the Whites are pushing hard to get it done.

The midfielder has missed all Leeds' pre-season preparations under new head coach Garry Monk however and it remains to be seen whether the former Swansea City boss throws him straight into the action at QPR.

Bridcutt will also have to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper with the Yorkshire giants.
