West Ham United target Achraf Lazaar has admitted that French giants Marseille are chasing him this summer.

The left-back has been strongly linked with West Ham, who it was claimed recently have held talks with Italian side Palermo about snapping him up.

But they now have company in the chase for Lazaar as Marseille want to take the Morocco international to the Stade Velodrome.

And Lazaar knows that the Ligue 1 outfit are keen on him, while he stressed he is only prepared to leave Palermo to join a club he feels represents a jump up in standard.

"Yes, Marseille are interested in acquiring my services. It would be an interesting solution", the left-back was quoted as saying by Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

"If I had to leave Palermo, it would only be to move a level up", Lazaar added.

The 24-year-old defender, who is also able to operate as a left winger, joined Palermo in 2014 from Varese.

He quickly kicked on at the Serie A club, establishing himself in the side, while also breaking through to the senior Morocco team, for whom he has made 16 appearances so far.
