Aston Villa's chances of winning the race for Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara have suffered a blow after Juventus entered the mix for the midfielder.

Diawara is a man in demand this summer after a superb debut season with Bologna in Italy and already has interest from Napoli and Roma.

But Aston Villa recently slapped in a €17m bid for Diawara, putting themselves at the front of the queue for his signature as no Italian side have yet to go over €15m.

However, now Juventus are looking at Diawara, according to Italian outlet Fantagazzetta, as they look to fill the gap left by the departure of Paul Pogba to Manchester United.

The Italian champions have financial muscle to flex and are expected to quickly become the favourites to sign the young midfielder.

Diawara has been unhappy with his contract at Bologna, having signed for the club last summer from minnows San Marino Calcio.

Indeed, his agent recently let slip that he is only paid €3,000 per month.

He quickly established himself in the side at Bologna last season and impressed with maturity beyond his tender years in the club's engine room.
