Inter have knocked back an offer for midfielder Gary Medel from an unnamed Premier League club, amid speculation Liverpool want the former Cardiff City man.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been claimed to want Medel at Anfield as he looks to beef up his squad ahead of the closure of the transfer window at the end of this month.

But Inter have no intention of selling Medel, as new coach Frank de Boer insists he wants to keep the Chile star.

And the Nerazzurri made the fact clear by knocking back an offer from an unnamed Premier League club recently, according to Italian outlet FC Inter News.

It remains to be seen who the club were, but Liverpool have been strongly linked with wanting Medel at Anfield.

Inter's financial position has recently been boosted by a big-money Chinese takeover and the Italian giants have no need to cash in on Medel.

However, a substantial bid for the 29-year-old may cause Inter to have a rethink over the tough-tackling midfielder.

Inter snapped Medel up from Cardiff City in 2014.
