Leicester City are interested in signing Genk midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who has been monitored by both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, during the January transfer window.

The Foxes have failed to recapture their magic from last season when they surprisingly won the league title and are currently languishing in 14th in the Premier League table.

Claudio Ranieri is keen to see them climb up the league table in the second half of the season and has already prepared his shortlist for the January window to strengthen his squad.

And according to Belgian daily Het Belang Van Limburg, Genk midfielder Ndidi is one of the Leicester’s top targets for the winter window as they look to add more strength to their midfield.

Leicester have so far failed to effectively replace N’Golo Kante, who left for Chelsea in the summer, and could believe the 19-year-old midfielder has the potential to do so.

And the Foxes are preparing the groundwork to make an offer for the Genk midfielder in January and are confident of getting a deal over the line for the youngster.

However, it is unclear whether Genk are ready to lose one of their top young performers in the middle of the season and could stonewall Leicester’s attempts.

While if Genk do agree to play ball, Chelsea and Spurs could choose to become involved in the race, as both have been reportedly monitoring Ndidi's progress in Belgium.

Despite his tender years Ndidi has already clocked up 74 appearances for Genk and has a contract until 2020 with the club.

He has also earned six caps for Nigeria.
