Pep Clotet wants to stay at Leeds United, despite the departure of Garry Monk as head coach.

Monk is expected to be appointed as the new boss at Middlesbrough and it has been claimed he will take Leeds first team coach James Beattie with him to the Riverside Stadium.

There has been no word on Clotet, who worked under Monk at Swansea City too, joining him at Middlesbrough though.

And according to Peak FM's Joe Rawson, Clotet wants to stay on at Leeds.

The Spaniard is currently on holiday in Italy, though he has been increasingly tipped to succeed Monk as head coach at Elland Road.

It is unclear whether Clotet would stay only if he is handed the head coach job, or whether he would be willing to remain as assistant under a new boss.

A number of out of work managers have been linked with the job at Leeds, including former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri.

With June now having dawned, Leeds fans are hopeful an appointment can be made sooner rather than later.
