Mauricio Pochettino has indicated that Tottenham Hotspur don’t need to spend big to further improve next season.

The Argentine has worked wonders at Tottenham by bringing through players from the academy, working with young players such as Harry Kane and Dele Alli and spending within the club’s limited budget.

Tottenham are not in the league of Manchester City or Manchester United when it comes to their transfer spending, but are set to finish inside top four for the third season running.

And Pochettino indicated that the club will not move away from their basic principles even this summer and continue to look to build a settled squad, working with talented young players.

Asked if Tottenham will have money to spend this summer, the Argentine said in a press conference: “One way is to spend money.

“Another is what we are doing, to create players, like in the case of Harry Kane, Dele Alli. It’s a different way.

“I repeat, when we arrived here it was to be focused in trying to provide the team the discipline, the philosophy to create the platform to competitive and then work with all the resources the club provides for us and be focused on delivering the best job.

“That is my focus until now.”

Tottenham could be forced into spending money to replace players such as Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose, who are expected to leave the club in the summer.
