Muhamed Besic has failed to agree a move to Middlesbrough, despite snubbing interest from Leeds United to head to the Riverside.

The midfielder, who was on loan at Middlesbrough from Everton for the second half of last season, had interest from Boro and Leeds.

He is claimed to have passed up on the chance to join Leeds to head back to Middlesbrough to play under Tony Pulis.

But according to Sky Sports News, Besic's switch has collapsed after he failed to agree personal terms with the Championship club.

As such, Besic will be staying at Goodison Park for now.

However, EFL clubs can still sign players on loan up until 31st August and the loans can contains options to kick in a permanent deal when the next window opens, in January.

As such, EFL clubs remain firmly in the transfer game.

And Besic could yet be playing his football in the division once again this season, with Leeds rekindling their interest a possible development, along with Boro trying again.
