Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has little interest in signing another centre-back in next month's transfer window, despite the Whites being rocked by defensive injury blows, it has been claimed.

Liam Cooper has just joined Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi on the sidelines, meaning that young Finnish defender Aapo Halme is in line for further playing time.

Bielsa has also been willing to play midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the heart of his defence and has signalled that he is reluctant to do business in the January transfer window for the sake of it.

There remains genuine concern amongst some fans however at the lack of centre-back options in the light of injuries, but according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bielsa is not keen on bringing in a central defender.

He was reluctant to sign another centre-back in the summer, despite Leeds being linked with Matthew Pennington and Juan Foyth, and injuries have not changed his mind.

It remains to be seen however how the Leeds boss might react over the Christmas period if Pontus Jansson picks up an injury.

Leeds fell away during the second half of the previous two seasons as their hopes of promotion dried up.

Bielsa though currently has the Whites sitting in an automatic promotion place and they have won their last three Championship games on the spin.
