Arsenal and Liverpool have been given a boost in their pursuit of Lille attacker Nicolas Pepe as it is claimed he prefers a switch to the Premier League.

It was claimed on Wednesday that Bayern Munich have decided to end their pursuit of the Ligue 1 attacker ahead of the start of the summer transfer window.

Pepe’s impressive season has attracted the interest of several clubs in Europe and Bayern Munich were in the fray before they opted to pull out of the chase.

It has been claimed that Bayern Munich were close to reaching an agreement for Pepe, who has also been linked with Inter, before they killed their pursuit.

And, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the German champions called off the chase after they realised that Pepe would prefer a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with an interest in the winger, who has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season, and have been testing the water on a potential bid.

It remains to be seen if either side slap in a firm offer to turn Lille's head soon.

Inter remain in the race, but Pepe's Premier League preference could make things difficult for the Italians.
