Danish defensive starlet Jores Okore is flattered by interest from Manchester United, his agent claims, while he also pointed out that he knows former Red Devils goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has mentioned the 20-year-old to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United have been linked with Okore over the last 12 months, along with North West rivals Liverpool, but the Red Devils have recently been mooted as fast-tracking their ambition to take the defender to Old Trafford, with a bid even as soon as next month possible.

Okore did admit recently that, following a season when he tasted the Champions League, he feels ready to leave Danish champions FC Nordsjaelland and head abroad.

And news of a potential switch to Manchester United has reached the Denmark international’s ears, leaving him very much flattered.

"I’m flattered and I think the kid is too", said Okore’s agent Nikola Juric to Bold.dk.

"I think that there are probably many clubs that are watching Jores, but I do not know anything about this. I only know that Peter Schmeichel says he has mentioned Jores to Ferguson and there has been a little interest, as there has been from a great many other places, but how tangible is the interest, I don’t know."

And Juric knows that clubs from far and wide are watching the defensive starlet.

"There is very broad interest. Russia, England, Germany, France and the big two in the Ukraine, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv, have also shown they are interested.

"And Jores is open to everything and we are well aware that Russian football has grown bigger than many leagues in Europe. The most important thing is that the club are in love with the player and believe in him."

The defender’s representative also has no qualms about how his client would cope with the step up from the Danish Superliga to the English Premier League.

"He is lovely and down to earth, and willing to learn. And he has the potential to grow even more in the right hands.

"And he has something you cannot learn, namely a physique which would cope well in the Premier League."

It remains to be seen what bids arrive for Okore and when, but the defender gained more fans with his performances in the Champions League this season, despite Nordsjaelland being the whipping boys of their group.
