Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen has dropped the clearest hint yet that he is planning to leave Amsterdam in the summer by insisting that his potential transfer fee is "for the clubs" to arrange, when commenting on talk his asking price is €20M.

The talented Danish schemer has just over 12 months left to run on his current contract with Ajax and, thought the club have offered him a new deal, he has put any talks over an extension on ice until the summer.

The expectation is that Eriksen is waiting to see what offers arrive – and he should not be short of suitors.

Liverpool have kept constant tabs on him this season and are believed to have made him one of their top summer targets, while Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has gone on record as admitting Eriksen is a player he rates highly.

It has been suggested that Ajax want as much as €20M for Eriksen. It is a figure he admits is steep but, in a nod to a transfer, explained it is not his business to interfere in the natural negotiating process.

"I read that my asking price was €20M", he told Dutch daily Het Parool.

"That’s a lot, yes, but I will leave that to the clubs."

The 21-year-old has clocked up 28 appearances in the Eredivisie for Frank de Boer’s men this season, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists.

Eriksen looks on course to help Ajax to another Dutch title; it would be the club’s third in a row.
