Ilkay Gundogan’s father and agent has ruled out a move away from Borussia Dortmund for his son this summer, quashing talk that Manchester United are in the running to sign him.

Gundogan has been linked with the Red Devils, talk which has only intensified with their failure to sign Thiago Alcantara or Cesc Fabregas in the current transfer window.

The attack-minded Dortmund midfielder has also seen his name mentioned in association with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But Irfan Gundogan is sure that his son should stay at the Ruhr giants for a little longer, with a move now certainly not welcome.

"I am keen to make sure that he stays with Borussia Dortmund", he told German magazine Kicker.

"He is doing fine and it is too early for a move to a club in England or Spain."

And Irfan Gungodan is sure that his son will soon receive an improved contract from Jurgen Klopp’s men.

"Dortmund will come with a new contract soon. Then things will look much better."

The 22-year-old, who was born in Gelsenkirchen and spent time in the youth ranks of Dortmund’s fierce rivals Schalke, joined Klopp’s side in 2011, moving from Franconian side Nurnberg.
