Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt has done his best to end speculation that Julian Draxler could make a late move to Arsenal before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

There has been chatter that the Gunners, who are struggling to sign players this summer and look set to see their pursuits go right down to the deadline wire, will bid for Draxler.

€30m has been mooted as a potential offer point, while the Germany international is thought to have a release clause of €45.5m in his contract.

Questioned about the growing transfer talk after Schalke's 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga yesterday, Heldt simply told reporters on Draxler: "He stays."

Schalke recently signed Kevin-Prince Boateng from AC Milan and instantly had to fend off speculation that the Ghana international could be a replacement for Draxler.

However, Heldt has admitted that there may come a time when Schalke cannot keep the 19-year-old out of the clutches of richer clubs.

But for that to happen, the bid would need to be sky high.

"We expect Julian to stay with us, but if a bid of over €70m arrives, what can I do?", mused Heldt just days ago.
