Three Bundesliga clubs are monitoring Kevin De Bruyne's situation at Chelsea ahead of a possible swoop to take the Belgian playmaker back to Germany.

De Bruyne, who returned to Chelsea this summer following a year-long loan at Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, has recently fallen foul of manager Jose Mourinho, who omitted him completely from the matchday squad against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

The midfielder was then not even included in the travelling party to Romania for Chelsea's Champions League victory over Steaua Bucharest.

Mourinho has told De Bruyne that the level needed to succeed at Chelsea is not the same as at Werder Bremen and, despite the Belgian's agent insisting his client has the desire to make the grade at Stamford Bridge, the approaching 2014 World Cup could concentrate minds.

And according to German magazine Kicker, a trio of Bundesliga clubs stand ready to rescue De Bruyne.

Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, who have already admitted their lingering admiration, are ready to roll out the red carpet for De Bruyne to head back to Germany.

De Bruyne's reaction remains to be seen, but Chelsea may be open to parting with the Belgian due to their abundance of midfield options.
