Dinamo Zagreb starlet Alen Halilovic has revealed that he came close to leaving the Croatian giants in the summer, but cannot say where he almost ended up.

Halilovic has been linked with a number of clubs, but appeared on the verge of signing for Tottenham Hotspur at points over the summer months. Arsenal are also thought to be in the mix for the 17-year-old, while Fiorentina, Inter and Juventus make up the Italian contingent tracking the Croatian; Borussia Dortmund are also fans.

The chase is heating up with Halilovic's contract due to expire in the summer, which will help smooth his departure from his homeland, partly on the advice of his father.

He did though come close to leaving Dinamo Zagreb this summer. Halilovic told Gazzetta dello Sport: "It is true that in the summer I was very close to a foreign club, but I cannot reveal which one.

Halilovic also declared which leagues he is the most attracted to, with a slight tilt away from Italian suitors.

"I like English football and Spanish football", he said.
