Lekhwiya are the latest Qatar-based football club to join the race to sign Xavi from Barcelona.

The veteran Spaniard is rumoured to be on his way out of the Catalan giants and an array of Qatari clubs are making a beeline to sign the midfielder this summer.

Al Arabi’s manager Dan Petrescu claimed earlier last month that the Barcelona midfielder has agreed a pre-contract to join the club.

There were also reports suggesting the Xavi was also considering an offer to join another Qatari club, Al Saad.

However, Lekhwiya have entered the race to sign the double European champion this summer and are willing to offer €12m per season to the midfielder, according to Spanish daily Marca.
