Inter are open to the idea of selling Manchester United and Liverpool linked midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the summer, it has been claimed, in news which is likely to put a number of sides on red alert.

The Nerazzurri hierarchy are slowly accepting the reality that they might not be involved in European competition next season, which is going to pinch them financially.

The club signed a number of players on loan this January and are already planning to tie a few of them down to a permanent deal at the end of the season, which is going to affect their transfer business.

Inter are aware that they need to sell one key player for a large fee to ease the financial pressure and they have identified Mauro Icardi and Mateo Kovacic as the players who will generate the most interest across Europe.

Roberto Mancini is not keen to lose their primary striker in the form of Icardi in the summer and so according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Kovacic is the player who is more likely to be sold at the end of the season.
