Giuseppe Bellusci has hit out at critical Leeds United fans as the fallout over the Italian defender's injury continues.

The centre-back was one of six overseas players to declare themselves injured the day before Leeds played Charlton Athletic last weekend, throwing head coach Neil Redfearn's plans into disarray.

Redfearn had been expecting all six to be fit and available if required and it was soon claimed that there may be more to the injuries than met the eye.

It was a situation which got even worse when the father of goalkeeper Marco Silvestri suggested only his son and striker Mirco Antenucci were genuinely injured, claiming the remaining four were protesting.

Bellusci has since been ruled out for the remainder of the season, but a number of fans remain unconvinced and two challenged him on Twitter after he took to it to salute Leeds' victory.

Bellusci wrote back to the fans, claiming that while the two supporters relax on holiday over the summer, he will be working hard on his recovery from injury.

The Leeds defender wrote: "Yesterday I was in London to see a specialist.

"While you go on vacation I will work quietly!!!"

Bellusci's outburst is unlikely to build bridges with a number of fans who feel he has been less than honest about his injury status.
