Barcelona winger Adama Traore is en route to England to undergo a medical with Liverpool, according to Catalan daily Sport.

Liverpool sent representatives out to Spain earlier this week to speak directly with Barcelona about signing the promising 19-year-old this summer.

The Reds made progress in their efforts, so much so that earlier today Traore was sitting by the phone and waiting for a call from his agent telling him to travel to England.

That call is claimed to have now arrived and the highly-rated winger is heading to England to undergo a medical with Liverpool before then linking up with the Premier League side.

Winning the race for Traore would be a big coup for Liverpool given he attracted interest and links with clubs such as Bayern Munich, Sevilla, Manchester United, Manchester City and Everton.

Traore was part of the Barcelona B side that suffered relegation from the Spanish second tier last season and as a result the Catalan giants have been keen for him to play his football at a higher level than would be the case if he remained with their second string outfit.

It remains to be seen therefore if the deal takes the shape of a loan move, or is a permanent transfer to take the starlet to Anfield.
