NEC Nijmegen have revealed they have "reminded" winger Anthony Limbombe of his responsibilities, after interest from English Championship side Leeds United turned his head.

The Dutch top flight side left the Belgian out of their squad for their weekend Eredivisie match against Ajax, complaining that he was not focused after intense speculation around a move to Leeds.

NEC have knocked back a bid of €2m from the Whites and insist they will not sell Limbombe for less than they believe he is worth.

And the Dutch side confirmed they have spoken to Limbombe to put his head back on matters closer to home.

"Anthony is an NEC employee and we have reminded him of his responsibilities", NEC official Bart van Ingen told Omroep Gelderland.

"We are in talks and we are not looking to fall out. At the moment there is no firm offer, but if we can achieve a fee which allows us to reinvest then we can do that.

"But if it is not at the level that we want then he will continue to play for us."

NEC only signed Limbombe last summer and the Belgian winger enjoyed a stellar debut season at the club, helping his side to earn promotion to the Dutch top flight.
