AC Milan believe Newcastle United's struggles could lead to an opportunity to sign Moussa Sissoko in the winter transfer window.

The Rossoneri are in crisis after picking up only nine points from their opening seven Serie A games, while they were thrashed 4-0 at home by Napoli before the international break.

Thoughts are already being turned to potential winter window signings to boost AC Milan's campaign and, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Sissoko is on their list.

The Italian giants have noted Newcastle's Premier League struggles, with the Magpies rooted to the bottom of the table, and believe Sissoko will be keen to move on.

They also feel the Magpies may be open to selling the midfielder as they look to make signings themselves to push away from relegation trouble.

However, if Newcastle are ready to sell Sissoko in the new year, AC Milan could find significant opposition for his signature.

Indeed, the midfielder recently admitted that an offer from Paris Saint-Germain would be difficult to refuse, while Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with the Frenchman.
