Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has revealed he told young forward Bertrand Traore to express himself more and not worry about errors, after the starlet scored in the Blues' 1-1 draw at home against Stoke City.

The 20-year-old Burkina Faso international scored a scorching goal from outside the box against Stoke to give the lead to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and while it was not enough to earn the full points for the home side, his performance was widely praised.

It was only his second start in the Premier League for the Blues, and Hiddink admits that it is not always easy for youngsters to get into the first eleven and start performing from the first minute.

He feels Traore was a little passive early in the game and the goal came only after he started to become a bit more expressive with his football, following a message from Hiddink, which eventually paid dividends.

The Dutchman manager revealed to Chelsea TV: “The goal was beautiful, but it's not easy for the young guys to step up onto the big podium.

“In the beginning he was a little bit nervous and became a bit passive. I let him know I wanted him to go and play. I don't care about errors, but I care a lot about passivity.

“He got the message and made a beautiful goal.”

Traore will be hoping that the goal would help him to earn more first team minutes towards the end of the season, and a more prominent role at Stamford Bridge.
