Real Madrid have informed Juventus that they are activating their buy-back clause on Alvaro Morata, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juventus had been hoping to keep hold of the Spain international, but Real Madrid's clause, set at €30m, leaves them powerless to prevent his departure.

Now the Bianconeri have been told it will be used and Morata is expected to be quickly sold on by Real Madrid for a profit, with a fee of €60m mooted and no shortage of interested parties.

However, while clubs have been lining up for Morata, Arsenal and Chelsea appear his likeliest destinations.

Indeed, Chelsea are claimed to have already agreed personal terms with Morata on a contract which will see the striker take home €6.5m per year in wages at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal could be Chelsea's fiercest opposition though.

With Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy set to snub a move to the Emirates Stadium, Morata is Arsene Wenger's preferred alternative option.

Morata is currently starring at Euro 2016 with Spain and did his reputation no harm by bagging a brace in a 3-0 win over Turkey on Friday.
