The agent of Tottenham Hotspur linked forward Antonio Sanabria has indicated the English club have made tentative contact for the Paraguayan forward this summer.

A product of the Barcelona academy, the 20-year-old forward’s future at Roma has been up for discussion with speculation suggesting that Tottenham are interested in snapping him up.

Roma have been keen to hold on to the young striker this summer, and have already rejected a bid from Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan in recent days, to add credence to their intentions.

Tottenham are yet to make a concrete move for the player, but his agent, Raul Verdu, indicated that the Spurs have made a tentative approach for Sanabria this summer.

However, Verdu added that he will have to first talk to Roma about his client’s future, and insisted that there is nothing concrete to talk about regarding Sanabria’s future at the moment.

When asked about the Tottenham links, the agent told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato: “Speaking in general, there has been some contact, but we will have to evaluate with Roma.

“Right now, the boy is a Roma player, but we will talk to [sporting director Walter] Sabatini on how to proceed; at present there is nothing concrete about his future.

“We’ll see if there is some news next week.”

Sanabria scored eleven goals for Sporting Gijon last season in La Liga during his loan stint, and was recently in action for Paraguay in the Copa America.
