Leeds United target Joel Ekstrand has had another independent scan on his knee to prove his fitness, while Bristol City are now looking at the centre-back.

The Sweden international left Premier League side Watford at the end of last season and is looking to ink a deal with another club.

He had been thought to be set to join Garry Monk's Leeds, but the Whites only offered a pay-as-you-play deal due to concerns about his medical results.

Ekstrand damaged his cruciate knee ligaments while in action for Watford in March 2015 and he has now had another independent scan on his knee, according to BBC Radio Leeds.

The defender's agent has insisted his client's knee is in good condition and he has full mobility.

And Ekstrand is keen to get the weight of medical advice behind him.

Meanwhile, another Championship side in the shape of Bristol City have taken a shine to Ekstrand and are assessing whether to try to take him to Ashton Gate.

The defender is also thought to have interest from abroad.
