The experienced international player dubbed a "top signing" that Leeds United are expected to snap up after he passes a medical has been revealed as Pablo Hernandez.

Leeds boss Garry Monk worked with Hernandez at Swansea City and the Spaniard is now set to reunite with the young boss at Elland Road, provided he can pass a medical on Monday.

There had been much speculation about who Leeds were poised to sign when news leaked out that they are set to sign an unnamed player, labelled only an experienced international; it was further claimed he is to undergo a medical on Monday.

Now it has emerged, according to Radio Yorkshire, that the player in question is winger Hernandez.

The 31-year-old will undergo a medical with the Whites on Monday and if he passes, is set to put pen to paper on a contract with the Elland Road club.

Hernandez started his career in the youth ranks at Valencia where, after spells with Onda, Cadiz and Getafe, he established himself in the first team.

Swansea completed the signing of the Spaniard from Los Che in 2012, paying a then club-record fee of £5.5m for his signature.

Hernandez left the Welsh giants for the lucrative climbs of Qatari side Al Arabi in the summer of 2014 and, following a loan stint with Al Nasr, spent last season back on loan in his homeland with Rayo Vallecano.

Rayo Vallecano finished bottom of La Liga, being relegated, and Hernandez is now set to continue his career at Leeds.

He has won four caps at international level with Spain.
