Wesley Sneijder has rejected a proposal from Galatasaray because he wants to move to the English Premier League, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

Galatasaray announced yesterday that they had opened talks with Inter about signing Sneijder, who has been frozen out at the Nerazzurri following his refusal to sign a new contract, which would mean taking a wage cut.

But despite the Turkish champions’ advances, the 28-year-old Holland international is not keen on heading to Istanbul and has given Galatasaray the cold shoulder; Sneijder was also cool on a possible switch to Galatasaray’s rivals Fenerbahce recently, despite the opportunity to link up with international team-mate Dirk Kuyt at the Yellow Canaries.

It remains to be seen whether Sneijder’s desire to hold out for a move to England will help a deal come to fruition, but there have been several Premier League sides strongly linked with making a move for the playmaker.

Sneijder has recently addressed talk about a move to Liverpool and a switch to Tottenham Hotspur, following suggestions both had made Inter offers to buy him.

It is likely that if either progressed their interest though, Sneijder would look at their proposals favourably, with England clearly his preferred destination.
