Chelsea have continued to pay close attention to the exploits of Saint-Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to Mercato365, the Blues had talent spotters in the crowd to watch Aubameyang in action against Rennes on Friday night, a further continuation of their interest after lodging an enquiry last month.

Aubameyang scored the final goal of the game as Les Verts secured a 2-2 draw away from home, keeping themselves well in the hunt for for a top three Champions League spot in Ligue 1.

The Gabon hitman is expected to leave Saint-Etienne in the summer and has admitted that is likely to be the case if a suitable offer lands on the French side’s doormat.

However, Aubameyang has left room for a longer stay.

The 23-year-old has conceded that he could find it impossible to leave Les Verts if the club can qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Aubameyang has attracted attention from a number of other English Premier League clubs, with Newcastle persistent suitors, while Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with holding an interest in the striker.
