Galatasaray coach Roberto Mancini has not lost sight of Gareth Barry, a player who previously played under him at Manchester City.

Mancini is thought to have been handed a transfer kitty of €35m at Galatasaray and was recently linked with raiding his old club for left-back Aleksandar Kolarov in January.

But the Italian tactician is a firm fan of Barry too, according to Turkish sports daily Fanatik, even if the defensive midfielder may prove to be out of reach due to a season-long loan at Everton from Manchester City being the state of play.

Mancini bossed Barry at the Citizens until the end of last season, when Manchester City sacked him despite a finish of second in the Premier League table.

Barry featured regularly for Mancini during his time at the Etihad Stadium and may welcome the chance to link up with his old manager in Turkey.

He has however been lauded by Everton boss Roberto Martinez, with the midfielder himself even hinting at being open to a longer stay with the Toffees.

At present Barry is focusing on regular first team football at Goodison Park, with winning back his England spot in time for the World Cup still a stated ambition.
