Newcastle United have tabled a €17m bid with Monaco for the signature of Liverpool linked Aymen Abdennour.

The Tunisian international defender’s agent has claimed that a number of top clubs across Europe are keen to prise his client away from Monaco this summer and a number of them have already made their interest known in Abdennour.




Clubs such as Bayern Munich, Juventus, Tottenham and Liverpool have been touted as his next possible destination but Newcastle are the ones who have made the first move to sign him.

The Magpies have shown a keen inclination in signing the defender and have decided to act upon their interest by lodging a bid for him.
 


According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Newcastle have placed a €17m bid on Monaco’s table for the transfer of the Tunisian defender this summer.

With little more than four years left on his contract, Monaco are in no hurry to sell the player and are said to be eager to wait for other teams to jump into the saga to drive up the 25-year-old’s price.

It has been claimed that the Ligue 1 side are expected to reject the offer and are in no mood to sell the player for a fee less than €20m.

Abdennour has admitted that Monaco will play a crucial role in deciding his future but stressed that he is keen to play for a big club.
